[the man’s lips part then close, figuring how he should answer without giving too much away] I did not know the fae in question personally, however I know of those whom were close, and I believe that is the main reason for myself being called upon… [his mind darts to various nefarious beings, all of which may not have the best of alibis but whom warrant the Glashtyn’s benefit of the doubt - not everyone’s a bad guy, regardless of how others see them] It is simply a matter of weeding them out and ascertaining the facts from the rumours.
[The smile he shoots the Dark fae is more wan than anything] You would think that as old as most of us are, we’d learn to cut back on rumours, but they just seem to get worse with age. But, that’s neither here nor there, it’s an odd choice of words, but I’m glad that you at least know some of the people close to them, [As the Ash, he only ever saw those that sought council with him and the Morrigan and whoever it was she sent his way from the dark] it could really help us with figuring out which fae did it.
[considering he’s been plucked out of obscurity and placed in a situation with those of considerable authority, Fandral feels a little out of his depth but he hides it well] Uh, well, She seems rather unperturbed by it all. I believe she has a few key individuals delving into the matter, calling in favours far and wide.
[Of course she is; another nod before a beat passes] Did you know the fae that died? [That might be of a useless question..he wouldn’t be on the Council, working on this would he…] Or at least anything of them beforehand that I could share with my officers?
I suppose… [is a little disappointed by the lack of bloodshed] I’ll do my best to keep my head to the ground, get in touch with my sources from, uh, my side. See how things are swimming along.
[he nods] I’m still waiting to hear word from one of the colonies up north. We don’t have trackers here, or at least none strong enough while they do, so hopefully they’ll be able to send some down..
[looks up to the ceiling muttering] The sooner this mess is dealt with, the better. [looks back to Fandral] And how’s the Morrigan dealing with all this?
No, no it wasn’t, though I wish it were more productive than…whatever that was.
True. I always had the impression that every meeting had some form of meaningful result. I was half expecting everyone to be making blood oaths…
Given the state of our meeting, it seemed like a possible result. [sighs] Though I think I’d rather save that as a last resort, at least until we can get some sort of traction in our search.
There’s no one specific threat (unless you’d like to count the Morrigan who’s about as fond of me as a Naga having his heads cut off), but if there’s any way I’m deemed an ineffective Ash, if it looks like I’m shirking my duties to the Light and the Council, then there’s no question about the fact that I’ll have to step down. I’ve done well so far, I’m not gonna lie about that, but then no one from the Light has ever supposedly murdered a Dark Fae. There was never an actual call for blood between us, so whoever killed that fae certainly started something that doesn’t look like it’ll stop anytime soon.
